One of the scenes in this episode that stands out to me features Wendy, Helen, and Jackie sitting at a cafeteria table and discussing what they would do if the rapist came after them. Wendy intends to fight back by using her car keys as a weapon. Jackie argues that fighting back would only make the attack worse and that she would try to reason with the rapist. Helen is adamant that she will not give the threat of a rapist power over her by forcing her to change her lifestyle. Three different women with very different reactions. Each makes good points, though Jackie is naive in thinking she can reason with a rapist. Wendy's decision to fight back doesn't do her any good when she is later attacked (Wayne and someone else come to her rescue). Helen is coaxed by Donald into letting him accompany her to the parking lot only when he jokes that he is scared of the rapist. And poor Cathy. She refuses to carry a horn because she believes her "aura" will protect her. It doesn't. These scenes do a brilliant job of showing how people respond to the possibility of a threat and loss of control.
