  1. When Cathy approaches Vijay in the locker room, she says "You're getting married in the morning" to which he replies "Yes - with a little bit of luck". It's not clear whether this is simply a sly allusion by the writers, or whether Vijay is actually familiar with the musical My Fair Lady amd is making an intentional joke.

  2. The final scene, when Jack Morrison returns to his apartment after the tragic events of this episode, is the first time in St Elsewhere that we hear a certain piece of sad music. This "Jack Morrison theme" goes on to become one of the most distinctive and recognisable leitmotifs in J. A. C. Redford's incidental music throughout the remaining seasons of the show.

  3. Retcon Alert: Auschlander says he was in the Pacific Theater when the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. Later, in "Time Heals, Part 2" (Season 4), he will say he arrived at St. Eligius on April 14, 1945--four months before the Pacific War ended.
